Description

The perfect present for a child interested in walking and the country. A scaled-down version of our adults thumbsticks, the thumbstick is an unusual stick that is much sought after in the countryside. Produced using the coppicing method, these sticks are formed from the shoot that grows when the upper part of a young tree (usually ash or hazel) is removed. Occasionally, these shoots fork to produce the distinctive thumbstick shape; the stick should be grasped around the neck, with the users thumb resting in the V formed by the shoots. They are grown in the Somerset woodland of the manufacturer, Classic Canes. Height approximately 100cm (this stick can easily be shortened if necessary). Fitted with a non-slip rubber ferrule.
